This is a really good tent for those who want space and comfore for family camping. I have had it for a while, but only got the oportunity to put it to the test this week. Having built it up only once before,(a couple months ago) I was worried about difficulty in construction. with some un expected delays we arrived at our campsite quite a bit after dark, and together with two guys who never built a tent before, it was easily errected, with little to no light. only delay was when the baby "hid" the hammer.
we actually had to set up in some strong winds, which continued through the night. I actually connected an extra line at the center front of the tent to help support it in the wind.
on the inside, space for the whole team and gear, and even two visitors, in rain totally dry inside, and supprisingly not as hot on the inside as i expected when sealed up.
Two things i hate about this tent, and they are cclosely related. firstly, the yellow strip around the zippers on the doors. these keep getting caught in the zippers, really annoying. then the door zippers. made up of two zippers one for the upper part of the "D" and one across the bottom, apart from getting caught in the yellow strips, I find these to be too small (fine teeth) for a tent this size. I have a 9X9 coleman with bigger zippers which tend to be an easy 1 hand operation. I really wish this tent had these.
otherwise a really great tent.
large and roomy and as such quite a heavy tent, but people who use tents this size tend to use drive up camp grounds so the rollers on the duffle bag are all that you really ever need. and the bag takes into consideration that you might not be perfect at folding back the tent at least the first couple time and as such leaves lots of extra room. I actually fit an extra tarp (ground sheet) and some additional stakes for sand and still have good space when folded loosely. and if you are going on an overseas trip, its simply a single piece of lugage, just below the regulation weight. Actually thats how i brought it from the US where i purchaced it to Trinidad in the caribbean where i live.
