Great KnifeAug 14, 2006
By BG This is a great knife, easy to open, with a very sharp blade. I carry it around on my key chain.

FANTASTIC LITTLE PACKAGE!Apr 18, 2008

"knife lover"
I have been an avid knife collector for years, and this is one of THE best knives I own! Small, compact, tough as nails and sharp as a razor! Workmanship of the HIGHEST quality! I also own 2 "leeks" and though very nice I still prefer the Chives. I read one review that this is a poor self-defense weapon and I wholeheartedly disagree! Though only 2 inches in length it would be like facing a razor.. and for those who park in darkened garages as I have - having this little black beauty is a welcome relief... and with its small size in the dark it is practically invisible (as well as totaly legal). This won't catch anyones leary atention like the "leek" did for me once - which although only 1" longer than the chive looks much more like a trouble-maker to law enforcement etc.... I cannot recommend thsi little gem enough!!

Love it!Apr 28, 2008
By Pege Great little knife to have around. It's sharp as hell and keeps its edge very nicely. I use it for basic use and boxes at work mainly. Very stylish too.

Excellent Gentlemans knifeMar 13, 2010
By Joshua Spaulding I was looking for a small knife with a metal handle that was also made in america to replace a small Spyderco Dragonfly. This knife fits the bill perfectly. It is very high quality, and at a reasonable price for what it is. I would buy another.
Great everyday carry knifeApr 21, 2012
By Mikey likes it I own six Kershaw knives and I'd say that this Chive and the Scallion (one size up in the Ken Onion line) are my favorite edc knives. When I ordered the Chive, I thought it would be more of a novelty than a useful tool. Despite it's small size however, it's much more usable than other knives this size, due to it's ergonomic design which allows for better grip and control, whether it's for precise cutting or tougher cutting tasks. The curved base end of the blade with gimping on top, along with the contoured handle lets you get a really good grip. Most other knives this size (i.e pen knives) are just straight handles with straight blades - not very ergonomic. The Speedsafe one-finger opening is super useful and fun to play with (it's like having a small, high quality switchblade).
My only issue is that the black coating, while nice to look at, is a fingerprint magnet. Mine also has some streaks/stains in the finish that won't rub off (maybe I got a defective one). I may exchange it for the stainless steel model, which IMO is more practical for everyday use.
