Excellent valueMar 04, 2012
By Kelly Previous to this, I owned only Benchmade and CQC folders, however, I got tired of tearing up or losing expensive knives and decided to try the Kershaw Groove. I've had this one for about a year now. Despite it being much cheaper than my previous knives, the quality is top notch. It took a bit to get used to the Flipper style but I now prefer this to thumb studs. R. J. Martin designed this knife for Kershaw and it is very similar to his popular designs, except that those start at $400 and go up. This has many of the same features - the striated blade and the roller bearings but at a much lower cost. One major difference for people who are really into the metallurgy of knives is the R. J. Martin uses CR30MV steel and the groove uses Sandivik 14C28N steel. I am not educated enough to appreciate the difference as so far the Sandivik has handled every task I've used it for with aplomb. It comes out of the box with a very effective edge and about a 20 deg bevel. It is extremely slim and easy to carry. For the money, I don't think you can find a better quality folder.
