The gauge measures variations in your brass before and after firing, or re-sizing. It allows comparison between fire-formed brass and your re-sized brass. Any of five interchangeable bushings (included) are attached to your caliper using the same B-2000 body (included) as found on our Bullet Comparator.After attaching to your caliper with the brass thumbscrew, simply select the proper bushing (see chart below) to measure your cases from the case-head to the datum line on the case shoulder. Typically, when full-length re-sizing, the die should be adjusted to set the shoulder back .001" to .002". This will provide a proper (minimal) clearance with the firearm's chamber. A proper headspace will minimize case stretching, reduce work hardening, extend case life, improve accuracy, and increase safety.For the shooter with an autoloader, check your fired cases by rotating the brass in the Head 'n Shoulders Gauge to identify cases with bent rims - a certain cause of "flyers". You can also identify excessive headspace conditions, which is a potentially dangerous situation. Proper headspace also provides proper firing pin contact with the primer to improve the reliability of your loads. A Must Have Tool For the Serious ReloaderNov 13, 2009

I load custom ammunition for long range shooters and find this product invaluable in setting up the neck resizing die. The kit is complete and works for everything I load from .223 Remington to 300 Wby Mag. It's simple to use and provides extremely reproducible results.

Works great. I use this for QA after reloading and for periodically testing my headspace after fired.
Wish it only came in one caliber to reduce cost. I only really needed the 223 gauge.

Product recieved quickly and in excellent condition
This product provides an excellent method to establish the proper amount to resize your bottleneck cases for your particular rifle and eliminate excessive resizing resulting in work hardening of the case shoulder. It is also easily repeatable. This is the best method to extend the life of your cases or minamize the number of times, or frequency, you need to anneal your cases.
The instructions provided are clear and easy to follow. I use this product to check every case I resize to ensure they are all have their shoulder set back the same amount. A very useful product, quality manufacture, with clear easily followed instructions. What else can you ask for??
