 Good, basic compas - maybe a bit cheapFeb 24, 2012

I got this for my son on Christmas. I first was disappointed because it looks and feels a little cheap. the plastic is thick, and the lens mechanism looks like poor injection molding typical of China. But it seems to find North well, and the fluid dampens the dial pretty well. Since my 12 year old scout still loses stuff, this is an adequate product for the time being. As we do more hiking, and he matures, I'll probably spring for a better (and more expensive) product.
