These are some of my favorite socks. The only socks that compare are my Wigwam boot socks. These are the most comfortable socks I have ever owned, and between having served in the Marine Corps., being an avid outdoorsman living in Wisconsin, and having worked for some years on the cold (in winter, and miserably hot in summer) loading docks of various trucking companies and operating construction equipment, I feel I can confidently say I have put my feet through hell and have used a fairly wide range of socks to ease the pain of hard working feet.
These socks and the identical, albeit non-wool version, are hands down the ultimate in comfort. They are very lofty and are actually one of the few boot socks I've used that actually provide any noticeable padding around your entire foot. Instead of doing like other companies and saying that their sock is significantly more padded than regular crew socks just because they added 1/2 a millimeter of material around the heel, these Fox's actually follow through as though someone made them for their own job or outdoor activities. The amount of padding is huge, but not uncomfortable. This shows me that this company knows what they are doing and goes the extra mile, because anybody could just make a thicker sock (and many do make socks just as heavy), but none have fit my foot properly. These do, and not only do they form to the foot well, they also STAY UP!! I'm so sick of heavy socks that as soon as i get to doing a lot of walking, working, or trudging through the snow and woods immediately fall to my ankles. It really wrecks the day when such an important part of clothing doesn't do the job, especially expensive ones. This is the biggest kicker to me, I cannot emphasize how important it is to have socks that actually stay up when you are working, instead of being halfway to your toes an hour into some tough walking through rough terrain. Any sock that can't do this, in my mind, is a scam and I've had quite a few of that garbage, even from so-called high quality brands.
My only complaint is they don't last me that long. The whole sock wears very well, except for the toes. This may be an inherent issue with the sock, it may be that I wash them like normal with colors on the regular warm water cycle (instead of on delicate and air drying, as I believe the mfg. suggests), or it may be an issue with the loose Gore-Tex lining in my boots that causes the excess wear. It is annoying when heavy, moderately priced socks wear out in less than a year, but they are still worth it to me for all the superior qualities they possess. I don't believe anyone who works hard on their feet in inclement weather could find complaint with these.

* The Good-
The socks STAY UP!!
VERY warm (unless maybe you have crappy uninsulated boots in subzero weather or are using them as ankle waders for spring trout fishing)
Reasonable price for the very high quality
Excellent padding, I happily kissed my blisters goodbye with these.
Form very well to the feet (They aren't designed as a pre-formed left and right sock, but they fit my feet that way...especially after breaking in)
Very comparable (if not thicker than any of theirs) to my favorite premium brand, Wigwam, for almost half the price.

Seem to wear out fairly (annoyingly) quickly, but this may be due to my own variables and not necessarily the quality of the sock. Not sure. This is the ONLY reason I give them 4 stars. For me it is significant enough of a problem to affect the rating. If the manufacturer reads this: FIX IT...you would have no other competition if you did; add a nylon or kevlar blend thread, some Chuck Norris chest hair or SOMETHING to address this issue in the toes and then secondarily in the heels.
Secondly, this is not a real problem, but these are thick enough socks that you need to account for the extra room needed in your boots. Some of my
boots I cannot comfortably wear these socks in, I would need to go up 1/2 a shoe size. My looser boots work perfect with them.
These socks are well worth trying out; if you don't like them you are only out half the money of the other brands of lesser quality (minus Wigwam). This means you can go back to the dozens of other super-overpriced, over engineered socks out there to try that are nothing more than a top had for a toad (all highly recommended by employees forced to say how great their sporting goods store's socks are at the potential cost of their employment). So lots of other brands designed by people that couldn't possibly wear the socks they sell or they wouldn't sell the crap, since they all will be around your toes the first 5 seconds you walk through the woods, or have to climb in and out of a forklift or bulldozer. So try these out, I think if you are interested enough in them to read this review then they will fit your needs enough to serve you well.

These socks are warm, comfortable, and keep bouncing back into shape. Also they fit all the way over my calf, unlike most. Great buy!

A thick sock that is extremely long lived. The wool does a great job of keeping your feet warm even when your feet get wet. I recommend the product.

We have been living in our well insulated home with the thermostat at between 46 and 50 degrees - it's fine, but my socks were inadequate. THESE ARE WARM AND TOASTY -- GREAT!!!
