5Nice little knife.Nov 06, 2008
By J.R.K.
This is a decent little pocket knife, it came to me sharp out of the box. This is a great EDC knife, just big enough but not too big. There's really nothing bad to say about this knife, although mine did come with the pivot screw a tad too tight so the knife wasn't opening as fast as it should have. It wasn't a problem though because I had a torx driver and loosened the screw.

One thing buyers should be aware of is the color of this knife, the Amazon pictures show it being a bright red when it's a darker colored red. So if you're buying this knife hoping for it to be the same red in the picture you might be disappointed. I was aware of this before my purchase but you might want to take it into consideration.

5more than meets the eyeOct 07, 2010

It's finally here, after a slight mishap. ONTRAC claims they delivered my package although I never received anything; I reported the problem to Amazon and they quickly resolved the issue with out question and that is why I love shopping here. Amazon replaced the item and upgraded it to UPS next day air!

On to the knife, It's everything I could ask for in an EDC. Small but not tiny, built tough, perfect sized and very sharp blade, and ease of opening. The only complaint I have is Amazon is advertising the blade without holes but I received the blade that contains 3 holes up-top, although this doesn't affect my views towards the blade others might not like it. The red scales are dark...very dark, nothing like the picture so keep that in mind while selecting a color, I much prefer the darker look compared to the brighter looking red in the picture.

Something that would make this knife a 100 times better would be a black powder coated blade on red scales..Imagine that!

In summary, great knife get it and you won't regret it one bit. As always excellent customer service on Amazons part!!

5Kershaw Scallion reviewSep 01, 2009
By M. W. Brooks "Pinstripe Sportsman"
After searching for a long time to replace my last (lost) everyday pocket knife, I was extremely pleased when I first found/handled the Scallion. It's slim design allowed for me to upgrade to a slightly larger knife than I was carrying before, without a noticible difference in carryability. I wear suits or slacks every day, and don't even know it's there.
I really like the assisted opening *for my purposes*; the position your hand is in after using the opening mechanism is not a "Tactical" grip, but a utilitarian grip ready to work, slice, open packaging, chop, or many other things I do around work, not engage in hand to hand combat, there are other knives for that. I don't use the "tip lock" and have never had it open in my pocket; however it's nice to know it's there if I need it. Construction is superb, as is the finish and the hair shaving razor blade edge that came from the factory. This is on par with every Kershaw I've ever owned. I highly reccomend Kershaw products, and think this is an excellent item.

5Perfect knife for everyday carryMar 16, 2012

I've owned three of these knives, and bought around four or so additional simply as presents. My most recent of my three (the other two are lost somewhere) was purchased exactly 5 years ago as of this writing, and is still as solid as the day I bought it. I've carried it probably 350 days out of 365 every year since I bought it, and the blade stays nice and sharp while also being easy to sharpen.

I've never had it open in my pocket, and to be honest I've even removed the safety because it seems unnecessary to me. The assisted opening is not easy to trigger accidentally, so I'd just as soon not have a safety.

The steel used on the knife (420HC) is a nice steel, but by no means a supersteel (like 440C or S30V). If I could improve the knife I would give it a higher-quality steel, but then you'd probably be doubling the price. For the price this knife cannot be beat.

The finish kindof reminds me of a powdercoat (apparently it's anodized aluminum), but the finish is still 100% intact after 5 years.

The short story: You'll probably do like me and lose the knife way before you retire it.

Although I didnt buy this knife on amazon I was compelled to write a review on it anyway. I have the model 1620RDSO which has SNAP-ON written on it. I bought mine from the SNAP-ON truck over 5 years ago and aside from damaging the tip making the safety lock useless after resharpenning it it has been one of the best knives I have yet ownned . I have had people laugh when I tell them I keep it razor sharp until I show them that it really is . This knife holds it's edge very well and is the standard in which I comepare all othe knives too. If you are looking for a folding knife you can't go wrong with any of the KERSHAW's . You can't beat the quality for the price.
