5Proven EDC bladeJan 07, 2011

Proven EDC blade...
I carried this blade for a year as my every day carry and love it. It came out of the box sharp and tight at the pivot point. At this point I have not needed to do any major maintenance besides sharpening. This is a tough blade and I would say it's more a tactical folder then an EDC blade, but no less a very efficient EDC knife. It does have a small quarter inch length of gimping on base of the spine. The gimping is rounded and not sharp at all.

The down sides are weight and the delicate point, which is common with a lot of Ken Onion blade designs for Kershaw. The weight can be noticeable if you don't wear a belt. This would be the only reason that I would give it a 4 star rating, but the positives out weight the weight factor. The speed with the assisted opening is smooth and quick and not over powered, which I have experienced with other assisted openers. You can change the clip to the point up if desired. This blade is not southpaw friendly, which could knock it down to a 4 star for some. With heavy use the black finish will wear on the edges and clip, but in my personally opinion it gives it a very nice worn look, a secondary cool factor.

In all, this is one of my favorite out of my EDC collection.
