Great ShearsMar 25, 2010 I bought these shears specifically for cutting chicken bones and they work great; much better than my Cutco shears. The notch in the blade really makes the chore much easier.
Very uncomfortable handlesJan 09, 2010 I am an average-sized male (5'10") and the handles are very uncomfortable - they are too small and poorly configured. Yes, I realize that they want this usable by both right- and left-handed people, but I have used other ambidextrous scissors that are much better.
Details: I can fit only two fingers comfortably inside the handles. If I use my index and middle fingers, the extremely poor fit of the other handle to the thumb is not just uncomfortable, but severely limits how far I can open the blades and how much cutting force I can generate with a natural motion.
What I have settled on is having the middle and ring fingers inside the handle. It seems _very_ strange having the index finger in front of the handle, but it allows adequate motion of the blades and allows me to generate enough force to cut medium chicken bones.
With this grip, my little finger does not quite fit inside the handle, but having it outside puts too much space between it and the ring finger and thus feels "unnatural". However, this doesn't impede the use of the scissors.
I find myself using a knife when scissors were probably the better choice. But for opening jars/bottles, I do find myself using them in preference to my other tools.
Great shears with long lifeOct 31, 2009 Take good care of these kitchen shears and they will last a lifetime. Sharp, sharp, sharp, and sturdy. We've only put them to use a few weeks so it remains to be seen if the plastic handle will crack in the same way as other kitchen shears. There is no doubt when taking these out of the packaging that they are made to last longer than the standard cheap shears that are easy to find at half the price or less. I expect these to prove their worth. I really like that they come apart for cleaning and how easy it is to take them apart and yet they don't come apart easily unintentionally.
Not very comfortableAug 29, 2009 They cut pretty well, but the grip is not comfortable at all. They'll do until I find some more comfortable.
Love it!Jul 09, 2009 I know some people complained that these scissors come apart when you open 'em too far, but I can't do it with one hand. Maybe those people had giant hands? Mine are pretty big, and I have never accidentally separated the blades. Cuts great, stays sharp, no complaints at all!!
