Ti-Lite Ti-Lite (Zytel Handle)

SKU:

GS-18024

This product is currently out of stock
Description:

A custom quality folding knife, especially one that's manufactured with a Titanium handle and a Titanium leaf spring lock is undeniably strong, lightweight, and beautiful to look at, but it's also quite expensive. Many love the look of the Ti-Lite but find the price a little steep. This is a very affordable alternative. The Zytel Ti-Lite mimics the look of its more expensive counterparts almost exactly. Instead of Titanium, Cold Steel has substituted 43% glass filled Zytel for the handle and 440A Sub Zero Quenched stainless steel for the leaf spring lock and liners. The result is an extraordinarily lightweight knife that is remarkably strong, sharp and good looking, at a price almost everyone can afford.Specifications:- Weight: 3.5 oz.- Blade Thick: 1/8" (3mm)- Blade Length: 4"- Handle: 4 3/4" long. 5A Great Knife!Nov 21, 2007
By Keith Brown
I wasn't a big fan of this knife when I first saw it, a little over a year ago. I tend to like more "traditional" looking stilettos. However, I caved and decided to get one. The price was right. It took a little warming up to at first, but man do I love this knife! It's insanely sharp and opens as fast as a spring-assisted or automatic. I love the fact that it snaps open with a loud "THWACK!" And it can easily be closed with one-hand as well; the locking mechanism's release is appropriately placed to allow for this. The only thing I didn't like was the pocket clip, I found it a little robust when carrying the knife in my back pocket. I removed it with a size 4 Torx screwdriver. Problem solved! I definatly recommend this knife. It's superb and if you'll notice the zytel model (the cheaper model) is an ounce or two lighter than the titanium one. Go for the zytel.

5Excellent knifeJul 12, 2006
By Halvermac
This knife is cool looking, sharp, and tough. The blade that came with my order was superior to the one advertised. Mine came with Aus 8-a in stead of 440a. (The aus8 a is better). With a little loosening up and a drop of oil, this knife flies open. The picture doesn't show quite how cool this knife is. It was bigger than I expected. Still, 5 stars.

4Excellent QualityAug 12, 2006

The Cold Steel Ti-Lite with the Zytel grips seems to be a very well made knife. The Ti-Lite comes with a razor sharp edge and the point is needle-sharp. The fit and finish overall is very well done, the only way you'll find a better quality build would be to spend much more on a blade from a custom knife maker.

The knife snaps open with an authority that turns heads every time. With a little practice, the knife can be drawn and opened at the same time by catching the ridged blade base on the corner of your pocket while swiftly drawing the knife straight up out of the pocket.

The knife features a liner lock, which I am not fond of, but this one seems to lock plenty strong. The knife is meant for right handed carry and use, with no options to switch the pocket clip for left-handed carry, nor is there a provision to move the thumb-stud to the other side. Because of it's lack of ambidextrous features or provisions to convert to left-hand use, I give the knife a 4-star rating instead of 5.

2Good quality knife but with a fatal flawDec 07, 2011

Like most Cold Steel knives this knife is a very high quality piece of equipment. The edge is razor sharp, the handle feels good in the hand and the design of the knife allows it to be deployed with lightening speed. This knife was a birthday gift from my little brother and I carried it daily for about 6 months until a design flaw became so painfully apparent that I never carried it again. The knife is carried using a pocket clip in a position to where the tip of the knife blade is at the top of your pocket (point up).

One evening I was riding my motorcycle and pulled into a gas station to fuel up. It was cold outside so I took off my gloves and I went to pull my wallet out of my pocket (which I kept next to the knife) and promptly sliced the tip of my finger so bad that I needed stitches. Blood everywhere and as you might imagine it hurt pretty darn bad. The little tab on the blade that operates as a hand guard and allows it to open one handed had worked the knife open about an inch, but the blade is designed in such a way that the tip will just bite right into flesh as if were nothing.

I do not recommend carrying this knife in your pocket unless you tighten down the swivel screw so tight that it defeats any possibility of accidentally opening on you (I never did find the "sweet spot"). Of course if the clip were the other way around I suppose you could cut your leg instead of your hand, but at least this would allow for the tang/hand guard to be at the top of your pocket rather than the bottom where it gets constantly bumped. I did try carrying it for a while with nothing but the knife in my pocket and that did work out better but truthfully, there are better designs out there to be had without all the fear of self injury.

Great quality knife...incredible design flaw.

5Best knife I've ever owned.Apr 01, 2011
By Dragon_Boy
I originally purchased this blade for an every day carry (and for protection against muggers), since it's the best of both worlds when it comes to my choice of a knife. Looks and feels like an automatic, but in my state is legal to carry, because it isn't spring assisted (I'm from Texas.)
Unwrapped it with a huge smile on my face, and when I flicked it open for the first time, it was a little stiff, but one quick spray of WD-40 and I can flick it open just as fast as any automatic.
This sucker is DURABLE. Maybe even a LITTLE TOO DURABLE. The metal clip is VERY stiff, and I can't really clip it on to most of my pockets, without an excessive amount of force. But that's fine with me.
This knife is DEFINITELY NOT MEANT FOR CHILDREN! I would recommend getting your child something cheap and only sharp enough to cut paper if they are wanting a knife.
This baby came sharp enough to cut my arm hair off! Cut it clean off with just a loose swipe across the top of my arm!
Which, I was SUPER happy about, because I was going to buy a $30 knife sharpener, and I am SO glad that I didn't.
If you're looking for a knife that feels as gangster as a stiletto, but don't really care about it being auto, BUY THIS KNIFE. For $30-$40 you won't find a better knife. Also check out the official video for the Ti-Lite on the official Cold-Steel website, it truly shows how badass this knife is, so you don't have to ruin your knife figuring out it's limitations!
Good day! And enjoy feeling like Freddy Krueger if someone tries to mess with you!
